ANONYMOUS /

CONFIDENTIAL BIRTH

In an anonymous birth, the delivery takes place with medical care, but without any personal information being disclosed. This is intended to prevent the child and/or mother from being placed in life-threatening danger due to an emergency or conflict situation involving the mother.

To avoid endangering the lives of mother and child, the Schwarzwald-Baar Hospital, in consultation with the registry office and the youth welfare office, has decided to allow for anonymous births in cases of imminent birth. In this special situation, the well-being of mother and child is also legally paramount. A flow chart has been developed for this situation. The hospital will cover the costs of the birth in advance.

Mothers who wish to have an anonymous or confidential birth should contact the midwife on duty in the delivery room at Villingen Hospital directly. Foster parents will care for the child. The decision not to provide personal information can be reversed at any time. Thus, approximately three to four confidential births are attended to each year.

A woman who has carried a child deserves the utmost respect – even if she wants to remain unknown to her child afterwards!
