PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION

The foundation's purpose is realized in particular through

• financial, social and health support for children and young people and their families
• intellectual and human development of children and young people
• Support for schools and childcare facilities in terms of ideas, personnel or finances
• Promotion of youth welfare
• Promoting the prevention of violence against children
• General awareness-raising work about the situation of children in society

FUNDING PRINCIPLES

The ProKids Foundation sees itself both as an operational foundation, pursuing its goals through its own programs, and as a grant-making foundation, enabling third parties to develop and implement innovative approaches – projects and initiatives – to address societal challenges both domestically and internationally. With our own programs and the projects we support, we aim to stimulate development and effect change. Depending on the topic and its strategic focus, we decide whether to implement the program "operationally," i.e., as an in-house project, and/or seek partners who can complement the program with their expertise and experience.

ORIGIN

Shortly after the turn of the millennium, child poverty in Germany reached a historic new dimension. The consequences for those affected are not only financial, but also health-related. One in three children already requires therapy when starting school. Added to this is the social dimension: poverty always means discrimination. Such injustices have a particularly strong impact on everyday school life: needy parents are often unable to afford a hot school lunch for their children. This is where businessman Joachim Spitz stepped in in 2008. He founded the local initiative ProKids-VS in his hometown of Villingen-Schwenningen and began actively supporting children in need.

STRUCTURES

The ProKids Foundation is a nationwide foundation. Its main focus is on supporting local and regional ProKids initiatives.

BRANCHES / INITIATIVES

Regional branches of the foundation can be established, for example, Prokids-VS, an initiative of the company Spitzdruck in Villingen-Schwenningen, could be named Prokids-TUT, Prokids-RW, etc. 80% of the funds received or collected by these regional branches are redistributed directly, in consultation with the regional initiatives, but only within their respective regions. The remaining 20% is added to the foundation's capital for long-term distribution. The foundation's board of directors decides on the distribution of donations with a supra-regional focus. Branch offices must be approved by the Prokids Foundation.
